Further opportunities to develop our understanding of the catechetical needs across the diocese
Sowers, Seeds & Sowing
Continuing Conversations for Catechists leading to a new Diocesan Certificate in Catechesis
Following the gatherings for Catechists held in June we are offering further opportunities to develop our understanding of the catechetical needs across the diocese.
As with our earlier gatherings there will be two venues for each session and three sessions will be offered across the year. All sessions are open to both new and existing catechists and indeed to anyone interested in the conversation: all are welcome. All we ask is that you book in at least one week before the advertised session so that administration and catering can be arranged.
People are free to attend just one conversation or all three. Participants in all three conversations will be awarded a Diocesan Certificate in Catechesis and this will replace the Being a Catechist Certificate. Each session will cost £10 or £25 if registering for all three. The Lay Formation Fund would consider applications from parishes wishing to send 2 or more people.
The Conversations will take place as follows:
Part One on Tuesdays 5 and 19 November 2019 7.15 p.m. until 9.00 p.m. at LACE OR on Saturday 16 November 2019 from 9.30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Wrightington
This will explore the soil in which we are called to be sowers, the Church’s vision for catechesis and introduce the call to Accompaniment which Pope Francis is urging us to adopt.
Part Two on Tuesdays 10 and 17th March at LACE OR on Saturday 14 March 2020 from 9.30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Wrightington.
In this session we will build on the conversations in Part One and further develop our understanding of Accompaniment with reference to Family Catechesis and to adults enquiring about faith.
Part Three on Saturday 13 June 2020 from 9.30 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Wrightington OR on Tuesdays 16 and 23rd June 2020 at LACE from 7.15p.m. until 9.00 p.m.
In this final part we will explore some of the ways in which we can accompany those with special needs and look ahead to the future development of catechesis within our diocese.
